Instant espresso powder
2 Tbsp
Black pepper, coarsely ground
1 Tbsp
Kosher salt
2 1/4 tsp
  1. Add espresso powder, salt and pepper in a small mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
  2. Place biscuits on a parchment-lined half sheet pan; spray tops with cool water.
  3. Sprinkle 1/8 tsp of espresso mixture evenly over the top of each biscuit (store unused amount in airtight container).
  4. Bake as directed below.

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 9 minutes of baking.

  • Substitute instant coffee for espresso or powder if desired, or use a spice grinder, coffee mill or a mortar and pestle if a finer powder is desired. Use to season biscuit gravy or on meat, fish or poultry as desired.
